Does getting a fake tooth hurt?

just the initial shots sting. the rest you wont feel-you'll be nice and numb--ask for the nitrous gas-it helps with the injections.

Does getting a fake tooth hurt?
i dont know about like an implanted tooth, but if your just having like a fake tooth added on to an existing tooth, than no.

Does the fake tooth you get look noticable?

It shouldn't. It should blend in with the real surrounding teeth well enough to not be an eyesore.

Does the fake tooth you get look noticable?
It won't look noticeable if the dentist matches the color properly with your natural teeth.
Reply:I dont have one but my Brother and my parents have them and you can see them
Reply:Yup! Your real teeth are one color and the fake teeth are really white.
Reply:No, I have fillings that are white and they look like real teeth, people can't tell if it's done right and my mom has a few fake teeth and they look real. And it's better to have fake teeth then no teeth anyway.
Reply:no not at all, i am a dental asst. and the docter will match it to your other teeth, you wont be able to tell, so i promise you no one else will. you are going to look great okay.
Reply:Yes it can be very noticeable, especially if it is a denture or bridge. Implants are the est way to replace teeth, but make sure you get an oral %26amp; maxillofacial surgeon to put the implant in, and a proper implant restorative dentist to actually place the crown. Spend money on it, and it should be worth a lifetime of dental freedom

My fake tooth/crown and the natural post broke off. Shouldn't the dentist be responsible?

I had a root canal and crown put on only 3.5 YRS ago.

The crown also fell off three months after he originally put it on.

He says he should pay $200 out of pocket to put in a metal post this time. Is this right? Shouldn't he have put in metal post the first time through?

What should be done when the crown breaks off with the post and build up all inside the crown?

My fake tooth/crown and the natural post broke off. Shouldn't the dentist be responsible?
Your question does not make complete sense the way it is written.

1. Depending on the condition of the tooth when the origial root canal was done, No he did not have to put in a steel post at that time. He can just shave down the natural tooth to act as the post. Very normal process.

2. If it fell of in the first three months, I'm guessing the cap just came off but the post was ok at that time. The dentist shoul have been able to just re-cement it back in place.

3. If after 3.5 years something happened and the natural post broke off in the tooth. I would have to ask do you brush your teeth at least twice a day? If not then it could be as simple as decay got under the cap and caused the natural post to weaken. Even if you do brush something like this can happen. So while 3.5 years is short it would not be unheard of either.

4. Now the dentist will need to insert a steel post and build up around that and then cement a new crown onto the new steel post.
Reply:I am sure that he recomended that certain foods should'nt be eaten, if you did he is not responsible. Also it depends on how long you've had those babies in.
Reply:Well, in America, Doctors are allowed to charge whatever they want for their services. It's a competitive business just like anyone else. Unfortunately, I think you might be stuck having to pay.

Some dentists will replace a broken crown if it's broken within a certain amount of time after being put on. 3.5 years sounds like it might be a bit too long. I believe that a person is expected to have crowns replaced every 5 years or so, (at their own expense) to avoid them breaking and you being stuck with half a tooth. It sounds like what's happened to your tooth would be difficult to fix, so it does not surprise me that your dentist wants you to pay. I doubt he ever gauranteed a lifetime warranty...crowns break often.

I'm no expert, but I've avoided having crowns put on my teeth for years since I know so many people who have to deal with broken crowns being broken for weeks before their doctor could get to them, plus all the expenses involved. Good luck...I'd go with what your dentist is offering. At least with a metal bar the post won't break again. Remember, it's your responsibility to ask questions before having any kind of medical work done. If you're unsure about something, anything, ask. You're dentist has to answer as honestly as he can.
Reply:Go see a different dentist; the other one should be responsible!

For a temporary fix, you can use a crown glue that you can buy at Walgreens.

Good Luck!!
Reply:well... did you break one of the rules about wut u can and cant do. some people never have a problem the first time... others do. think about it as ordinary and industrial power. o well its not like you can go with out it now? at least that wut ive heard. and even if im wrong and he is responsible... do you want to go to court and pay mabey thosands of $ to get out of $200? it doesnt seem worth it.

How much would a fake tooth cost?

i need a tooth pulled and replaced any idea how much that would cost ?

How much would a fake tooth cost?
It depends on what you do. A "flipper" is about $300. An implant is about $3,000.
Reply:depends on where it is first of all. which tooth do you need?
Reply:About $750 and that includes the dr.'s fee.

It's best to wait until u get some dental ins. it'll reduce it alot up to 40%
Reply:A couple thousand usually. It all depends on what kind of false tooth, where it's at and if you want it tooth colored or silver. I have a Maryland Bridge one of my front teeth. Not the main front 2, but the one next to them. I had insurance at the time, so I don't remember the exact cost.

I've had crowns put on and they run $600 I think, but those are in the back.
Reply:About $4K for tooth implant and crown.

How much for a fake tooth?

I had a tooth pulled ( two back from the bicuspid) and I feel so self concious when I laugh now. What are some of my replacement options and what are the costs?

How much for a fake tooth?
It costs about $1000 total....after xrays %26amp; everything else. Save up!!! It is SO worth it. There's nothing worse than having to hide your emotions (smiling) or your personality (laughing). You can't expect to live your life to the fullest if you always have that insecurity. I hope you take my advice!
Reply:Ask your dentist, costs vary enormously!
Reply:I DONT NO BUT I NEED ONE TOO I WAS BORN WITH OUT ONE
Reply:replacing a missing tooth runs $2000-3000 and is usually done with a bridge or an implant. i'd choose implant if i was you.

My Fake tooth just fell out....help!?

I have a marylin bridged tooth and it has been in for about a year...it just fell out while i was eating....can i get it glued back in for cheap...i just got rid of my dental insurance

My Fake tooth just fell out....help!?
if you need a temporary fix until you get to your dentist you can go to any drug store and get some temporary cement that will last for a day or two. its by the dental stuff, its easy to use. it should cost you less than fifty dollars to have it re-cemented, if you go to the dentist that put it in it may cost nothing, just call and ask.
Reply:you need to go to your dentist

i am sure it wouldn't be that expensive
Reply:If there is no new decay on your natural tooth, it can probably be rebonded.

I got a fake tooth thing at the dentist?
if it hurts or makes it hard to eat call and try and get in sooner, if it doesn't hurt get it addressed on the 17th.
Reply:Michelle,

It sounds like you possibly had a temporary crown or a temporary filling. The good news is since you've already had the root canal, it shouldn't hurt! You need to call your dentist in the morning as soon as they open. They may need to quickly re-cement your "toothish" thing!

Your question was fine, but it would have been helpful to find out the name of the "toothish" thing.

You'll be fine! Good luck!
Reply:He put a temp. crown on while the permanent crown is being made. You need to call your dentist and they will have you come in and re-glue the temp. back on. Do it right away or you could get a massive infection in your jaw.

It only takes a few minutes to fix.

Missing Teeth! important!?

ok, so i have a friend whose fake tooth fell out. how can she get it replaced and how much will it cost? It's urgent.

Missing Teeth! important!?
The cheapest temporary solution would probably be a "flipper". Our office charges $190 for those. It is like a orthodontic retainer with the tooth attached to it. It is only for looks; if you eat with it you might break it. Beyond that, there are many options depending on the scenario. The best thing for her to do would be to go see a dentist and ask what the options are.
Reply:Tell her to call the dentist and ask.. it all depends

Does anyone know about teeth i went to the dentist six months ago and they said that i had a little infection?

in my upper right tooth and they gave me antiboits but i di not get the tooth pulled because it is a fake tooth and i had it done ten years ago and it is 180 and i dont have it know if i dont get it pulled yet will it kill me.

Does anyone know about teeth i went to the dentist six months ago and they said that i had a little infection?
WHAT?!?!? I know all about teeth, but you just really confused me. LOL

It is a fake tooth????? That would be an implant. Do you mean that it has a crown on it?? If so, that is not a fake tooth, it is just a fake outer covering. I don't have a clue what you mean by it is 180. Do you mean it will cost $180.00 to pull it? If so, jump on that, cause in my office we charge $278.00.

If you have infection in it, and the source of the infection is not removed, then the infection will continue to grow and yes it can affect your health, even put you in the hospital or in serious cases cause death.

Get the tooth out.
Reply:If it isn't hurting that means the infection is gone. Why pull a tooth that isn't real? That wasn't the one that was hurting you, because it isn't real it can't hurt you, so why pull it?

Holes in your teeth?

what happens when you have holes on top of your tooth...what will they do ....its not black but its yellow....and the hole is on the gumline but not touching the gum line....im worried..im going to have a fake tooth....if they have o pull it..plz help ease the worrying...what is going to happen...????????

Holes in your teeth?
i had 2 of these.. went to the dentist and he filled them.. took about 5 minutes.. no biggie :)
Reply:You can't tell what it is..only your dentist can. it may just be a cavity on the side of the tooth and it can be filled...the very worst thing it could be is an infected tooth that may need to come out. That's not going to happen, but if it did...they have easy ways of replacing that tooth with a porcelain one that will look just like the rest of your teeth. Call the dentist...and try not to worry. One thing you don't want to do is

have an infection in your mouth and do nothing about it. That CAN be really serious. The infection can get into your blood stream and cause MAJOR problems... just go see your dentist and you'll be fine! ♥ We worry about teeth things cause they are scary..dentists are not scary ...they make the hurts go away...♥
Reply:I actually think this is the wearing away of the enamel. I think it is yellow because it doesn't have the protection over it and coffee/tea and other things stain teeth especially without the enamel over it. This is happening to my friend right now and she doesn't have any dental insurance so she hasn't been able to get them fixed. I personally don't think they are cavities, and they will probably be able to fill them in. Just go as soon as you can. Don't lose your smile.....she has lost hers because she is too embarassed to smile. It is sad, but she is saving to have something done. Good luck.
Reply:Sounds like you may be brushing your teeth too rough. I have the same problem. I have receding gum lines and worn down teeth because of it too. My dentist was able to put some filler into the holes but that's only temporary...it will eventually wear out again. The fix is to actually pay attention when you're brushing and don't push down on your brush so hard. My dentist recommended I get an electric toothbrush...i.e. Sonicare because you just need to rest the brush on your teeth and you let the vibrating brush do all the work.

Fake and false?

He has a fake tooth

He has a false tooth

Is it the same meaning ? when we use fake and when for false? what is the opposite? thanks alot

Fake and false?
They are essentially the same, but they may have different connotations depending on the context. Often "false" in this and similar sentences means that the item was intentionally put there as a replacement whereas "fake" tends to mean that the item is meant to fool ... So false teeth are replacements for teeth that have been lost but fake teeth are worn as part of a costume.
Reply:technically, yes. it is the same thing. false is more formal, but it doesn't matter which one you use. the opposite i guess would be real. " he heas a real tooth"
Reply:I don't think false tooth is right thing to say because all teeth are real but some of them are fake.

The opposite would be "real tooth" and "true tooth."

Good luck!

If you had braces when you got them off did you have yellow marks on your teeth?

I'm (hopefully) gonna get my braces off at the end of the summer and i'm afraid i'll have yellow marks on them. or does the orthodontist do something to make you teeth white? I have to get a fake tooth too!

If you had braces when you got them off did you have yellow marks on your teeth?

it ends up costing a lot and then after i got mine done my retainer didnt fit right so i had to get a new one so be sure you get anything like that done before you get fitted for your first retainer

If you were I high school girl, would you rather go toothless or have ugly buck teeth that hurt all the time?

I'm 15 and I had option "B"(ugly buck teeth that hurt), but I decided to go with option"A" after a lot of them got loose and I lost some front ones. Which would you choose? Why? Oh, yeah, no dental coverage and not a lot of money, so we didn't have many choices that were anything close to affordable. Hope to get some fake teeth in the spring maybe.

If you were I high school girl, would you rather go toothless or have ugly buck teeth that hurt all the time?
Bless your heart. I honestly feel for you. When I was in high school, I didn't have perfect teeth either, and my family didn't have insurance or anything, and my Mom was the only one that worked because my Dad was disabled. There was 6 in our family. Us kids all got jobs at early ages. Just tell anybody that asks or makes fun of you (hopefully noone will, that is cruel) that you are having dental work done, and hopefully before long your problems will be fixed. AND REMIND THEM THAT THEY AREN'T PERFECT EITHER. Some peoples imperfections are on the inside and other people's are on the outside.
Reply:well I am fourteen and i have large two front teeth and I still get alot of girls at school. Whatever you do do not go toothless and you will eventually be able to get dentures. Report It

Reply:If it was very painful I would opt to not having them. That is a hard decision. Hopefully you will have some fake ones soon.

How about if your friend, girl friend/boy friend or spouse (wife/husband) had broken teeth?
JUDGMENTS BASED ON APPEARANCE ALONE ARE SHALLOW AND A SIGN THAT THIS PERSON IS NOT A TRUE FRIEND. HAVING "BAD" TEETH IS THAT PERSON'S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY, NOT YOURS.

I'd have all my teeth pulled too if i was in pain. a toothache is the worst. By having them pulled you give yourself the option of dentures down the road. That will be a huge improvement. As for not having dental insurance, my ex's sister had the same thing done and went to south carolina for false. They were really cheap there. Being so young, if your parents aren't making really good money you may be able to get medicaid. In michigan, it covers dental up til the persons 21

My 3 yr old was playing hard and fell and knocked out one of his baby teeth.?

Will a dentist be willing to put a fake tooth in its place? Its one of his front teeth and I hate that hes going to be without a tooth for at least a few years.

My 3 yr old was playing hard and fell and knocked out one of his baby teeth.?
You should bring him to a dentist because you need to make sure that there is not nerve damage. The dentist will tell you what a viable option is. I have heard that if you know tooth out, you can put it in milk and they might be able to reset but I am not sure if that is just for second teeth. Hope your baby is feeling OK.
Reply:I don't think that dentists will replace baby teeth. Because in a few years, they'd just have to remove it again so that a new, permanent tooth could grow in. If you really want a replacement, you can always asks the dentists in your area.
Reply:I don't think the dentist will do anything about this, I'm sorry.
Reply:no .he is too young to have a fake tooth wait till about age 5
Reply:You may hate it bUt he could (or will) care less. Why spend the money?
Reply:well if you ask the dentist i'm almost positive they will only unless it could affect his health my tooth died and i had a gray tooth for 3 yrs. when i was little
Reply:It'll grow back in a few years or months if he's lucky I don't don't think you need to worry too much but you should tske him to the dentist and get it checked out for an infection or to prevent a future

Happy Thsnksgiving God Bless you and child!!!!!!
Reply:The only - and I emphasize - the ONLY person to whom it is appropriate to address this question IS the dentist. There are pros and cons to each approach; let him/her explain them to you and go with his/her recommendation.
Reply:Its not common that a dentist will re-place a baby tooth, but it all depends what the conditions are, many times when a child falls, they also man need stitches if the tooth rips the top or botttum of the gum.
Reply:Poor thing! It is very unlikely that any dentist will put a false tooth in a wee one as single-tooth prostheses are so small if he falls again he might swallow\inhale it. Also, baby teeth are too small and have too big a 'nerve' to have a bridge attached.

So I think you'll have to get used to his gap!! Usually from adult teeth come in ata bout 6 years old...
Reply:I would let it go . . . he will have a permanent tooth to come back in a few years. He is a toddler, and it will only add to his cuteness. You should play toothfairy with him, and make it a positive all around experience. Just my opinion, but this is just part of life.
Reply:im not sure if replacing it would be economically efficeint but put the knocked out tooth in a cup of milk, if the tooth is still fresh, you might be able to put the origional tooth bak in.

thats what ive heard.
Reply:No. Just wait for his adult teeth to come in.
Reply:As an orthodontist...I would not consider putting in an implant as he'll be getting more teeth anyway. In addition, in order to put in an implant I would have to take an impression of his bite. If your child doesn't have all his baby teeth it would be virtually impossible to accurately implant a tooth in it's place and not create problems with alignment for bite a future tooth placements.
Reply:Why would you want to replace a baby tooth? It is not necessary. The adult tooth will grow in fast enough. It is not that big of a deal.
Reply:Take him to the dentist ASAP. My mom's friend's first grand son Matthew knocked out his 2 front teeth and the gum started to rot. His mother(who is too lazy sometimes to take of him) waited around 1 1/2 years to take him to get it checked out and they rotted so bad to the point that they would never grow in. Now he has sliver teeth. He looked pretty bad too.
Reply:Take him to the dentist and have it checked out to see that everything is okay. If it is just for aesthetic reasons, you could see if they could make you something called a "flipper". It is a cap that can be removed, but looks like a regular tooth. Then he wouldn't have a gap.

I would be more worried that the adult tooth would descend properly than whether or not there is an empty space......

How can I make a wolf tail and wolf teeth?

I'm dressing up as the big bad wolf (I'm a chick) and need some help with some of the details. Pre-made tails in my area are black, but I'm going to be brown (I know, I have to be difficult). Will panty-hose stuffed with something work best, or is there some craftier way to go about it? Also, the only fake teeth/fangs I've found are clear and super crappy. What other way(s) can I give myself fangs without just painting them on? Thanks for any help!

How can I make a wolf tail and wolf teeth?
Wolves' tails are fluffy so I don't think that stuffed pantyhose would give the right look. I'd just buy a very small amount (1/8 yd if they'll sell you that little) of fake fur yardage at a fabric store --get the most convincing color/pattern. At home you can sew or glue it into a tube, and make the end more pointy by sewing or gluing... then pin it to your rear from under your clothes, or attach it to some elastic around your hips, etc.

Teeth are harder. If you can't find any vampire teeth (candy or plastic version like for Halloween, or in a costume store), I'd think some painted ones would be best (at least the two fangs)... they can be painted pretty convincingly (look in Halloween costume or face painting books at library or bookstore for tips).

You could make some awesome teeth from polymer clay but don't know how you'd hold them on your face anywhere... you wouldn't want something actually in your mouth very long. You could wear a mask though and put the teeth in that (with polymer clay, we make a bake the teeth separately, then shove them into an unbaked "gum" of clay (then bake together).

(if you're interested in making teeth from polymer clay though, check out some of the ideas on this page:

Reply:using paper, colors, glue, elastics and scissors

you can make both teeth and ears

draw them

color them

stick them on the elastic that you put it around your head and mouth!!!!!

good luck!!
Reply:tail... if you can find some cheap fake (wolves know FUR IS DEAD!) fur-lined coats at goodwill, maybe some quick work with scissors will net you a suitable brown tail. can you find a brown feather duster and mix the brown feathers in with the black fur? the panty-hose idea is good, but it might weigh too much if you fill it up, and come unattached at an inopportune time (and you'll lose street cred with little red riding hood if that happens.)

teeth... if you can avoid eating them, maybe those brach's candy corns would be a reasonable look-alike for wolf fangs. if there's a year-round costume store in your city, maybe you could doctor up some vampire fangs. can you find some denture adhesive to attach whatever you do find so you won't have to worry about it falling out? anything you use will probably make your mouth dry, so good luck. what DO wolves drink?

Guys, do you prefer gorgeous women who are fake?

Say woman A was born attractive but also has breast implants, a nose job, collagen lips, fake teeth, a hair weave, liposuction, and a spray on tan and looks drop dead gorgeous, and woman B is natural and pretty in an individual sort of way, with a good body but short and a few pounds overweight. Also, woman a is egotistical and boring, and woman B is smart and interesting. Who would you choose to date?

My dentist said he is going to fill the gap between my front teeth. How do they do that?

Has anyone ever had this done? He said he was just going to make each tooth a little wider to fill the gap. What exactly do they do to teeth to make them wider? My aunt had to have her front teeth fixed, and they filed each one down to a little post, then put a fake tooth on top of it. Is that what they would do for me too?

My dentist said he is going to fill the gap between my front teeth. How do they do that?
bonding...it will look somewhat like it's part of your tooth but its almost like playdoh...they can shape it however they want so that it looks real...
Reply:most times if it is easy they can cap it. or they can cover with veniers.

Can you use Crest Whitestrips on porcelain teeth??

my two front teeth got chipped to they were replaced with porcelain. My front two stay all white but the rest are slowly fading. Will the whitestrips damage the fake teeth? thanks

Can you use Crest Whitestrips on porcelain teeth??
The strips will not damage your caps. In general, I would seek out information about different sorts of teeth whitening products or methods, as chemical whiteners are known to weaken tooth enamel, depending on the strength and sort of chemicals involved. Certainly, it is not something you should consider doing often. In general, the color of teeth change throughout your life, due to the foods consumed, water and general environmental conditions.

I also had a tooth caped in the front and had the same issue. Eventually, after 20 years, I had it replaced and before I had it replaced, I got my teeth whitened at the dentist.
Reply:no it wont damage them it wont change the color or appearance of them so use away!
Reply:I do not believe that the strips will damage the porcelain, but the people on answers.yahoo probably don't know as much as your Dental Hygenist. You need to visit your dentist or call. Generally they don't recommend DIY whitening products because of the potential threat of damaging your gums. Give your doctor a call. If you really want white teeth you might consider laser whitening. It's a little pricey, but it's permanent. ONE TIME DEAL!

What do guys really think about girls with missing front teeth?

Or no teeth at all? I had ugly buck teeth that hurt all the time before. I lost my front teeth and then I had all the rest pulled 2 months ago, so I don't have any at all right now. Hope to get some fake teeth in the spring maybe. No dental coverage and not much money. I'm 15, 5' 5 1/2", 92 pounds, blonde hair, kind of average looking except no teeth. Does doing acid have an effect on teeth?

My husband used to do acid when he was a teenager and though he's past that now for close to 8 years, his teeth are in bad shape. He went to the dentist on Monday and was told he has to come back next Wednesday to have 4 teeth pulled and have a plate of fake teeth. The dentist asked him if he does meth and of course the answer is no but my husband did not offer the info that he did use acid a lot as a kid. I am wondering if that could have an effect on the progress of the decay?

Does doing acid have an effect on teeth?
Yep. We reap what we soe. The acid used in younger years can contribute to problems like this down the road. Wish we all knew that then ...
Reply:yes
Reply:Acid has an effect on your whole body, just thank God he is off before it's too late. Don't worry about losing his teeth and pray that is all that is wrong with him.
Reply:yea.they start getting thinner
Reply:i tried acid/LSD but sounds as if he's doing meth
Reply:acid has an effect on every part of the body, teeth included. It can also have residual effects even though he is no longer using. To minimize any future damage, lead a healthy lifestyle fom here on.
Reply:Anything that you take into your body affects your whole body, so of course doing acid would affect his teeth as well .

But I think it would be more that, when you're stoned, you

tend to eat unwholesome food, and not do your dental

hygiene like you should.

If the acid contained a lot of speed, as some does, it could

affect his metabolism to the point where it could make his

teeth bad. Friends I have known for years, who did speed,

OMG they have bad teeth. That stuff really messes you

up.

Glad he is taking care of himself now and hopefully in

the future.
Reply:it thins the enamel on the teeth making them look almost clear and it willl substantially speed the decay process...
Reply:I think the drugs have an affect on those who answered.

Was the acid mentioned to the dentist meant to refer to stomach acid, reflux that DOES affect teeth.

I have dental work done that shows someone as they get older, the body's stomach acid can damage the back of the teeth wearing away the protective enamel surfaces.

Can you get a fake Molar?

I heard or getting fake teeth, but what if you need one of your molars removed, can you get a fake one to replace it?

Can you get a fake Molar?
Yes, go to your dentist and ask what options would work best for you to get an implant.
Reply:Sure dental implants are common these days. See your dentist about it.
Reply:CINDELLES,

TO HAVE THIS MOLAR REPLACED WITH A FALSE TOOTH THERE ARE SEVERAL OPTIONS. THE LEAST EXPENSIVE IS A PARTIAL, THEN THERE IS BRIDGE, AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE IS AN IMPLANT.
Reply:Yes you can. You can get what is called a dental implant. It's a titantium root replacement. It's a pretty simple procedure. The dr "drills" a hole in the area and then palces the titantium implant and then it is allowed to heal for 6-8 wks and then went it has healed the dr will place an abutment Or "post" on the implant and take impressions of that to make a permant crown. Then you'l lhave a temporary crown placed on the abutment and then 3 wks later it you'll have a permant tooth. Good Luck

I have 2 rotten teeth in the top back of my teeth...?

I think its beyond repair. Do I go to the doctor and have it pulled out ? What happens next when the doctor pulls it off ? Do I get 2 fake teeth? And what is it called ? is it called a implant ? bridge ? fillings ?

thanks

I have 2 rotten teeth in the top back of my teeth...?
you go to the dentist and he gives you a referal to an oral surgeon who pulls them out.since they are back teeth i doubt they will replace them with fake ones.causeyou can still chew/eat.
Reply:well... if they are rotten you will know because of the pain.. Are you experiencing horrible uncontrollable throbbing an shooting? Is you get them pulled... it will depend on where they are that will determine what kind of fake tooth you get.... i.e.... implants, bridge. You just need to have your dentist tell you.
Reply:Go and see a dentist (nt a doctor) and they'll know wht to do. You'll probably have to have ur teeth taken out and get screw in's in. Don't worry- the dentist will tell u everything u need to knw, and lots of other people have had it done.
Reply:Get a consult from a dentist. They might not be beyond repair.

Depending on how far back they are (if they are extracted) you may not need repacement. If right to the back (8's or wisdom teeth) are generally not replaced as in most cases an individuals mouth is not large enough to fit these wisdom teeth (which is why they give so much pain on eruption).

Implants can be inserted - this is an expensive option where a material base is drilled into the bone cavity and an artificial tooth is attached.

Filling relies on the fact that the tooth is still viable, that the cavity is not too invasive. Bear in mind that fillings do not last forever.

Bridge - is a fake tooth which is bonded between two other teeth.

Sucking my thumb has ruined my teeth..?

I have sucked my thumb my whole life and it has really deformed my teeth/mouth.

To fix it I would need to get alot of teeth removed, but they are my adult and so they wouldn't grow back right?

If I were to go to the dentist would they give me fake teeth?

If so, how expensive is it?

Thank you

Sucking my thumb has ruined my teeth..?
because of the awkward positioning of your teeth due to thumb sucking, few teeth has to be removed so that it can create space for the front teeth to come in. The space will get closed once the front teeth comes in %26amp; you do not need to fix artifical teeth.
Reply:go to a dentist who does braces. My neighbor had the same problem and was cured with invisaline. Don't remove your teeth, that can cause a lot of other problems
Reply:I'm not sure why you think you'd have to get teeth removed (especially if you haven't been to a dentist)

A dentist might say, hey your teeth are crooked, and suggest you see the orthodontist. If you have insurance, insurance covers braces (you still have to pay some but the insurance covers a lot).
Reply:You will not need to have your teeth removed because of this. See an orthodontist. He/she will place braces and straighten your teeth.
Reply:Almost any bite problems/dental misalignment etc can be improved with Invisiline. See your orthodontist.

Will braces help close the gaps in my teeth?

I went to one orthodontist and they told me that braces wouldn't close the gaps in my teeth because I'm missing two teeth. I was told that braces would only make the gaps smaller and that I would have to get fake teeth put in. I don't want to do that and it's too expensive. Can I get another orthodontists opinion who might say something else? I just want to get braces that can close the gaps in my teeth, that's all!

Will braces help close the gaps in my teeth?
You can't move all of your teeth so much that they take the place of other teeth. Besides, if you do this, your teeth will look pretty odd! There are less expensive options for fake teeth - you should see a cosmetic dentist. Your braces would cost WAY more than fake teeth.
Reply:That's kinda what they're made for!

Lumeneers (teeth)?
There is no age limit for the Lumineers, but not all dentists do them. In the office I work for we charge $1500 per tooth and we will not do less than 4 teeth so they are very expensive. Well worth the money though! And no pain is involved with the Lumineers. You don't even need a shot to get them done! Hope this helps!

I have 2 really loose adult teeth, can I just take them out?

I'm 14 and 6 weeks ago I broke my 2 big front teeth on top and had to have the broken pieces pulled out. Now the 2 teeth next to the gap are so wobbly they're about to fall out. Can I just take them out since I have to get some fake teeth anyway? They're really loose, I mean they move when I talk they're so loose.

I have 2 really loose adult teeth, can I just take them out?
I'd just take them out. I did it when I had some that were really loose. Since you'll be getting something to replace the teeth that were already out, I don't see where 2 more would cost a lot more.
Reply:go to your dentist, he can save those teeth, he can splint them in
Reply:I would take them out .
Reply:Geez man, talk to a dentist! Unless there is a dentist on here how can anyone answer that.

Reply:You should really call a dentist fast and thats very important HURRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:you can go to the dentist...

or

take them out and put them in milk this will keep the nutrience and calcium in it... the dentist will put them back in
Reply:Believe me getting fake teeth is probably going to be more expensive than him just fixing those, so if the problem is no dental insurance, then you probably would at least what to call and find out which would be cheaper. Putting them in milk will hold the calcium in them for the dentist to put them back in, but this will only work if you plan on going to the dentist very soon. I suggest calling the office and getting thier advise. They are the only ones that know thier pricing. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Reply:I'd just take them out. If they're that loose they're probly not worth saving if it's even possible which I doubt.
Reply:no corn on the cob for yu!!! but I bet yu can spit like a cobra on steroids!!!
Reply:If you keep taking teeth out like that you'll soon have none left. It sounds like you have more than a few that need some attention soon if the other ones just broke without being hit or anything. Better get the rest checked soon or you'll be needing more than 4 or 5 false teeth.

Making teeth?

can someone tell mr the steps to make fake teeth?

Making teeth?
Making just a model of teeth is easily done, making teeth to fit someone, is tough. Alot of work is done into doing this task. Alot of work and alot of supplies.... mouth impression trays, impression materials, stone (yellow)/plaster(white)/jade (green)%26lt;%26lt;%26lt; any of those will work to pour the molds up, red wax, acrylic materials, and finally a processing oven made specifically for dentures. Not to mention, you have to measure a person mouth, so the denture can fit appropiately..horizontally and vertically.
Reply:Make an impression of the gums. Pour plaster of paris into the mold. Use the mold to mak a cast. Fill the cast with tooth goo.

Getting temp crowns on anterior teeth tomorrow, numbers 8 and 9...?

I know how it is done, Im 7 days away from graduating the dental assisting program but I wanna hear from people who have had this done, specifically on the front teeth, or other dental professionals who have done this on patients. i had to have two root canals, one on 8 and one on 9 because of a former dentist who cracked them and left them open to infection. tomorrow I have an appointment to have them prepped and have temps placed. what does it feel like? how to temps for front teeth look? in our school we only have the cheapest of the cheap so temps we make look like, yellow mud basically. are they going to look okay? the dentist i see is excellent but Im not familiar with him temp work. I have externship interviews in less then two weeks, maybe or may not be before i get my permanents, and I dont wanna walk into these interviews with crappy fake teeth...

anything you can tell me?

Getting temp crowns on anterior teeth tomorrow, numbers 8 and 9...?
If it's a reputable dentist, the temps should look almost as good as the final restorations. Most "cosmetic" dentist make their own temps instead of having the assistant do the work.

They will look and feel fine, just treat them carefully until the permanent crowns are placed.

Not brushing teeth?

Just wondering what happens if someone doesn't brush their teeth and they fall out, can they only get fake teeth like old people get? Or are there any other options?

Not brushing teeth?
You really can't be seriously considering not brushing your teeth till they fall out! Usually they won't fall out; in fact, it is rare for bad teeth to simply fall out. Usually they will end up badly decayed and infected, which means painful, and need to be extracted.

When teeth are extracted, the bone level around the teeth recedes or goes down because there is no longer a supporting structure. The younger you are when you lose your teeth, the more bone loss you will experience. Dentures are an option, up to a point. A newer procedure done these days are having mini-implants placed in the bone and having overdentures in place over these. There is tremendous support for the dentures this way, even though nothing replaces having your own teeth.
Reply:False teeth are an option if the teeth get really bad (lots of rotting and cavities). But, I think with isolated teeth getting bad they just replace them with fake teeth on something like a wire retainer that is hardly noticeable. Ask your dentist! Hope this helps. Best wishes.
Reply:you would have to get fake teeth that look like real teeth.... people get them all the time if a permenent tooth falls out......
Reply:If they rot out of your head you could just gum everything like a hobo

I do notice white teeth. Teeth are the first thing I notice on someone. I have done whitening myself. You can only get so white. People like Paula have Veneers. They are expensive, but give that fake look. They look great. I have some myself. I opted not to go "bright" white. I like a natural white better than a movie star white. I think they look fake. Two front teeth falling out - with lots of blood?

The dream I had was very interesting you could say -

I find my self in a room with 3 people, I believe all three are my cousins, 2 men and 1 female. One man was at first in the bathroom in the tub taking a bath with the female while I think I was just watching outside the tub, and then all sudden the man was ask for sex from this female and she was rejecting it, and then the two stepped out and was in the bed room, the man raped her, while I was in the bathroom looking in the mirror and happen to notice my two upper front teeth was lose and starting to come out with much blood dropping onto the bathroom stink. Some reason, I happen to look into the mirror again, they was replaced with fake teeth, but those fell out to. I walk into the bed room after the man had left, asked if she was alright, she ran away in fear of me outside, so I walked outside, asked the samething as I think she was on the phone.

I think that covers it.

Reply:Everyone has dreams about teeth falling out. It's normal. Means you're self-conscious in social situations.
Reply:according to my religion, ISLAM, dreams have meanings too. it is a way of our god to warn you of an event that might happen soon. so, according to dream cronicles, i think teeth coming out means that someone your distant will die. sorry.
Reply:I think two front teeth fallen out with lots of blood could be pretty possible.
Reply:Uncontrollable circumstances.. life is full of them and maybe you have encountered some in your life that you haven't dealt with. You need to look at yourself and ask yourself am I making the right choices?? How can I make my life better.

Can you get braces on prosthetic teeth?i think this one's for a dentist or a med student?

Ok the problem is I have a pretty bad overjet and I decided recently to get braces. I started the overall treatment first, teeth caries, etc. and they did a root canal on one of my frontal teeth which has been damaged a while ago. The problem is that it didn't work and next week they'll have to do a root resection on it. Now, i read online and it said that if that doesn't work, the next option is extraction. My question is, if that would be the case, and they have to extract the tooth, will they be able to put the braces on a fake tooth? will it move along with the others or how would it work?

If you get the tooth extracted then your options for filling the space would be a denture, an implant, or a bridge. If you also want braces though, then that's a very tricky situation because the "normal" bridge won't work because you won't be able to ensure the two side teeth (that the bridge gets attached to in order to create the tooth in the middle) move together with it. Also, you might not even want to get the other teeth to move with it because it's probably in the wrong position now anyways.... so that cancels out a bridge. An implant before braces is automatically canceled out because once it's in it's not going anywhere. A denture would almost work but as your teeth shift the denture would need to be CONSTANTLY redone, which would cost a lot and not be beneficial in the end for all the time spent on it and with it getting fixed and stuff.

*edit*

In that case, I'm thinking it's probably possible to add a "semi-real-looking-tooth" to the chain of brackets if the resection doesn't work. The ortho could cement a bracket onto a fake tooth, and then just add it into the line of brackets, with the wire attached, etc, and somewhat attach it to the other teeth next to it (pretty much a somewhat-flexible type of bridge!)

Either way it'll work out... hopefully the resection will work, and if not then they won't leave you toothless for two years, there's definitely non-permanent options for now until everything gets fixed.

PS: I'm happy you decided to take care of your teeth now because once everything gets all straightened out you'll have lotsss and lots of years of nice teeth and a healthy mouth especially since you haven't caused any permanent bone loss or anything, so you should be proud of yourself for finally getting things fixed up!!
Reply:An implant can not be moved orthodontically. Only teeth can do that. So if they extract, they will place a temporary tooth there during the orthodontic treatment and then place the implant.
Reply:You need to get an orthodontist that will coordinate work with your dentist. You may find that you need to take out some teeth anyway for your orthodontic treatment, and your dentist would have to do that part. If it turns out you would have had to take out the tooth that is damaged anyway, that would be ideal for your current situation. Ask your dentist for a referral to an orthodontist. Get the photos and xrays done, and go over all your options for treatment with everyone involved.

I am doing braces and implant (also resulting from an unsuccessful root canal). My dentist, and orthodontist are in complete coordination. They are also across the street from each other. I schedule appointments back to back, which is convenient for me.

With an implant, you have to wait a while (months) after the post is in before they can put on the tooth anyway. You can start the braces in the meantime, and when they finally put a tooth in they will put in one that will fit your new bite.
