Will teeth whitener affect my fake half front tooth?

i knocked out half my front tooth when i was younger play badminton.(dont ask). the dentist molded a new half front tooth for me and matched it with the rest of my teeth's color. I want to use a product like Crest White strips, but i dont know how it will affect my filling or cap or whatever its called. Will it change color with the rest of my teeth? or will it end up looking yellower?

It depends on the shading that the dentist used to color match the new half to your existing set of teeth. I broke part of a front tooth while rollerblading (don't ask) and when I used whitening strips, there was a color difference between the two. But, plenty of tea helps to remove whatever whitening had taken place, so it's all good, more or less.

On your question, ask the dentist who did your cosmetic dentistry if a whitening agent will affect the color and if so, by how much. The whitening stuff, whatever brand you use, will whiten your natural teeth, it may not and probably won't lighten the fake tooth part by much.
Reply:It depends on what kind of material the Dentist used to fix your other tooth. Some may whiten up with your natural teeth but others will stay the same color.

I know in offices if you are getting work done they usually ask if you are planning to whiten later so that they know if they should make the restoration a little whiter than the rest of your teeth. This is so that after you whiten they will match; so I am not quite sure but I would say: It will stay that color while the rest of your teeth lighten. Sorry:(
Reply:I broke my 2 front teeth when I was little playing on the monkey bars (dont ask), and I had them bonded. When I got older, like 10-15years later, they were darker and stained. Bonding does not get whiter, I know from experience. They didnt match my teeth, so instead of having the bonding done, I got veneers on those teeth. Now they match my teeth and look reaalllllly real. They also resist staining better than bonding. Plus, they glow under a blacklight, ever notice how bonding doesnt? haha. They are pretty expensive, but it was worth it for me.
