Sugar vs. "fake sugar" regarding teeth?

Everyone knows that sugar can eat away at your teeth. In some instances, you can feel the sugar hurting your teeth when you bite into something super sweet like fudge or candy, or drink a sweet coffee drink.

Are sugar replacements/alternatives (Nutrasweet, Splenda, Equal, Sweet N'Low, etc.) any better for your teeth than real sugar?

Sugar vs. "fake sugar" regarding teeth?
YES IT IS BETTER FOR YOU. IT DOES NOT ALLOW THE PH IN YOUR MOUTH TO DROP SOO LOW AS IT WOULD WITH REFINED NATURAL SUGARS.
Reply:Fake sugar isn't really that much more good for you!
Reply:yep, those "sugars" which are not some derivative of glucose (eg sucrose) are better for your teeth. cavities are from bacteria's acid production. it's their waste after metabolizing the sugar from candy and what not. this acid gets on the teeth, deminerializes it and .. .viola... cavity.

when you eat sugars substitutes like xyloitol, splenda, etc. you are depreviating the food which cavity causing bacteria like to eat.

make sure you floss before the twice a day brushing routine. you'll save a bunch of cash later and you'll save your teeth and your breathe!
