What exactly are kids pageant judging, when the kids have fake teeth, hair pieces, and an inch of makeup on?

I am not anti-pageant. I have seen numerous kids pageants where they are not allowed to wear makeup, have to wear normal party dresses, and can%26#039;t have hairpieces, fake teeth or eyelashes or they get disqualified.

But I saw a show last night and I couldn%26#039;t believe one of the little girls. If they hadn%26#039;t said her age, I wouldn%26#039;t have known how old she was. If not for her size, I would have thought she was a teenager. She was only six, and I swear she had a hairpiece on, about an inch of makeup on her face, and fake teeth! I am a dental assistant and I wouldn%26#039;t even know where to begin to make fake teeth for a six year old. This show had Paris Hilton on it, and even she commented on the little girl looking like an adult.

What are these pageants judging? I know alot of pageants judge natural charm, beauty, personality and talent, but in a pageant like this little girl is in, what can they judge, when it is all fake?

I still can%26#039;t get over the fake teeth on a 6 year old!

You have a stronger stomache than I do. I couldn%26#039;t get through more than five minutes of spray-tanning 5 year olds, dancing pushy moms, and the plasticized faces of these little girls. It made me physically ill and I had to turn it off.

Those girls didn%26#039;t even look like real people anymore. I looked at my daughter, and wondered what it would be like for her to experience this - to have to sit through days of prepping to be %26quot;beautiful enough%26quot; for the pageant... and what would be going through her little head on regular days? How would she know that she was beautiful, then, too?

When you start to think about all the emotional and mental effects on the child, and the what the parents must be like to endure (and even force!) such pageants, it becomes quite frightening, and really quite sad.
Reply:I think pageants like this are disgusting. It makes older men look at little girls, like they are women....one reason why pedofiles are so prominent these days. It%26#039;s gross. I think that should be totally illegal. Why would you want to put that image in your daughters head to be like that? Let her be herself and show her that she%26#039;s beautiful without all that junk on her face.
Reply:They are judging the amount of money a family has to spend to make their child look fake!!
Reply:i think it speaks volumes for the parents. rather than accepting their child the way she is, they have to change her to make her more %26quot;appealing%26quot; to others like them. i think it%26#039;s like a small cult and hopefully dying out.
Reply:I know what you mean. its gross and it teaches them to be superficial and barbiesque...

Nice way to breed anorexics!
Reply:I think those mothers should be ashamed of there self. Its so sick those poor girls are gonna grow up like paris hilton and nicole richy. there gonna have eating disorders there never gonna feel pretty enough there gonna be fake from head to toe and there never gonna realize how naturally beautiful they are.
Reply:Poise, personality, and the gullibility of parents to keep shelling out money.
Reply:Those things make me shudder. I think they are judging how adult (i.e. sexy) these girls can act. By the way, pedaphiles love these shows and all the pictures on the web of the girls.
Reply:They judge them the same way they judge a lot of adult and teen pageants when the contestants are allowed nose jobs, fake hair and lashes, and breast implants. It is based on who looks the best. It may not be natural but it doesn%26#039;t matter. I think it is disgusting that these parents are taking their children into tanning beds and making them look like mini sex objects. They are just babies!
Reply:can you believe that they have a BATHING SUIT part its absolutly discusting they are struting around in bikinis i saw this on vh1 the other night and wanted to punch someone. these little girls look ugly and most of the time its the mom who is just pushing the little girls to do this you know why? because they are ugly and want the attention they couldnt have. its so sad
Reply:I think it%26#039;s all just so stupid. These are little children who should be judged on their natural beauty and personalities. There made up w/ so much crap on themselves, that you don%26#039;t even see that child anymore. I dont know who made up this rule, but I think that it needs to change. There is a time for all the extras to be applied when they are way older. Let a child be a child.
Reply:OMG...I saw that. The funny thing is the moms were all saying %26quot;We do this for the college scholarships%26quot; which sounds all reasonable. Until you do the freaking MATH. Dad says they spent $8000 getting ready for the pageant, and the highest award was a $1000 scholarship. You could have put that $8000 into a savings account, and without interest paid for one semester of college.

It was sick, my daughters are seven and eight and were disgusted.
Reply:They are judging the ability of the youngster to conform to the most disgusting of physical and mental social pressures and the ability of the parents to encourage and actually pay hard earned money for such judgment.
Reply:kids pageants should be judged for kids being kids not made up like a barbie doll they should be judged for them selves not a Paris Hilton want na be kids are to cute to be all made up they should be judged on originality
